Support can be grouped as follows:

2- and 3-party sales: Supported countries can differ depending on whether a sale involves 2 or 3 party liability.
Invoices: Countries have different requirements that need to be supported to facilitate sales.
Tax ID Validation: Tax IDs need to be validated to facilitate Business-to-Business (B2B) transactions.
Tax Rate Calculation: Tax rates need to be available in Vertex O Series for the supported countries.

2- and 3-Party Sales

The countries supported by the service can be broken into the following groups:

2-Party Sales: A 2-party sale consists of 2 participants who can be liable for tax, the seller and the buyer. The service supports this by determining whether the buyer or seller is liable. Some of this behavior can be modified using settings. See 2-Party Sales Mode.
3-Party Sales: A 3-party sales consists of 3 participants who can be liable for tax, the seller, buyer and the marketplace. The service supports this where it can be offered, for example, in the European Union (EU)

To ensure a complete end-to-end coverage for typical e-commerce use cases, invoices are integrated and provided by the in-built Vertex Invoice IQ. See Vertex Invoice IQ.

Tax ID Validation

Tax ID validation is an important step for business-to-business (B2B) transactions. This is provided by the integrated Vertex Validator. See Validation Type per Country.

Tax Rate Calculation

Tax rate calculation is done by Vertex O Series (Cloud) and your configuration there defines the scope of supported countries for tax rate calculation.

Unsupported Countries and Regions

Brazil is not supported by the service.

Vertex O Series does not support some other countries and regions. Therefore, Vertex for Marketplaces does not support these. For more information, see Countries where No Tax Information is Returned.
